Have you ever wondered what bridal styists might do when they aren't in appointments with brides? We try on wedding dresses!

This might seem like we're just having fun, but it is so much more than that. Of course trying on new dresses is fun! We're also learning more about our dresses and our visiting trunk show dresses. We want to share all the info with our brides about how the dresses fit and feel. Gaining first-hand knowledge of how the gowns fit, feel, and look helps us know which dresses to show brides with specific must-haves or do-not-wants in their wedding gowns. We are always researching our gowns to know all their special features and how they will benefit our brides on their wedding day!

This week we received our Stella York Fall 2026 Trunk Show dresses. These are visiting dresses to our store and this was our first opportunity to explore these beautiful dresses in-person versus photos. Take a look at what we tried on!

Style SY8306 - Larissa
Style SY8306 - Model

Larissa tried on Style SY8306 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show. This gown is sampled in size 20. Larissa typically fits size 12-14 in wedding gowns and size 10 in everyday clothing. This gown required some clipping in the back, as it was loose for Larissa. When it was clipped, Larissa could feel the built-in structure support of the bodice and felt secure wearing this strapless gown. The all-over lace is very soft and didn't cause any discomfort. Larissa likes that this gown shows off her figure while giving coverage to areas she'd prefer not to highlight (Larissa says that after having kids, she never got her six-pack abs back-haha, so she prefers not to show off her tummy). Larissa found the neckline flattering and noted it would be a good choice for brides who prefer a little more bust coverage, but not completely modest. Larissa noticed this dress does a great job of blending seams so they aren't prominently featured. Although this is a mermaid silhouette, Larissa didn't feel constricted or restricted in her leg movement while walking. Larissa thinks this is a beautiful, comfortable gown that lets the lace do all the talking - there's no need for extras like beads and sequins with this beauty.

Style SY8298 - Emilie

Emilie tried on Style SY8298 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show. The gown is sampled in size 16. Emilie typically fits size 12-14 in wedding gowns and is size 8-10 in everyday clothing. This gown needed clipping in the back for Emilie, as it was a little loose. Emilie loves the scoop cateye neckline of this dress along with the exposed bodice boning and Basque waistline. Emilie says the shimmer organza was very soft and smooth to the touch. The shimmer organza also gives the dress a bit of shine.

Style SY8344 - Jocelyn

Jocelyn tried on Style SY8344 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show. This gown is sampled in size 14. Jocelyn typically fits size 8-10 in wedding gowns and is size 4-6 in everyday clothing. This gown needed clipping in the back as it was loose for Jocelyn. Jocelyn likes the square neckline bodice for her bust because it provides good coverage without being too modest. Although the bodice is unlined, the lace density provides good coverage to not be too revealing while giving a hint of the skin. Stella York does give us the option to line this dress if the bride prefers not to have any skin showing through the bodice. Jocelyn likes the structure and support in the bodice with the built-in boning, bust cups, and shoulder straps. The Basque waistline elongates and slims the figure as it gives visual interest. The lace is soft to the touch and quite beautiful. We all loved the hemline of this dress with the scalloped eyelash lace detail!

Grace tried on Style SY8309 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show. This gown is sampled in size 10. Grace typically fits size 10-12 in wedding gowns and is size 6-8 in everyday clothing. This gown was an excellent fit for Grace and didn't need to be clipped. Grace had fun twirling in this Cinderella ballgown! Grace likes the twist with the gown - the asymmetrical pickup skirt. It gives us something a little different from traditional ballgown skirts. The taffeta fabric holds its shape and gives a hint of shine. Grace likes the sheer back with exposed bodice boning that gives visual interest. We also have the option to order this dress with a lined back if a sheer back is too exposed for the bride.

Emilie was so excited to try on Style SY8273 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show! This gown is sampled in size 14. It was a little loose in the bodice for Emilie, but overall a good fit. The soft satin of this gown is to die for! Emilie says the halter neckline is comfortable and didn't feel constrictive. Emilie loves the keyhole open back of this dress. Pockets are always an amazing bonus and this dress has them!

Grace tried on Style SY8334 from the Fall 2026 Stella York trunk show. This gown is sampled in size 10 and was a good fit for Grace. The Grand Satin of this dress gives it some shine and feels smooth to the touch. Grace loves how the deep Basque waist bodice elongates and slims the figure. The full, pleated skirt of this ballgown is so elegant. We love the open back of this dress! This dress also has those amazing bonus pockets!
