Katelyn & Austin
Notre Dame Wedding
Austin and I met during Freshman Orientation at the University of Notre Dame.
We both admit that we were smitten with each other from day 1, but it wasn't until a couple years later that we started dating.
One Monday in January, Austin noticed that a Western Michigan photographer had posted a picture of a frozen lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan.
He sent me a text with the photo and asked if I was up for a day trip the coming weekend. I was super excited -- I have wanted to see a frozen lighthouse ever since I first found out about them, around 3 years earlier (If you don't know what that is, you should google it. So cool!).
As we made our way to the lighthouse on Saturday morning, we passed a billboard for a jeweler that had pictures of engagement rings on it.
I pointed to Austin as a not-so-subtle hint that I was ready to be his wife. He smiled and asked me what kind of ring I would want... "white or yellow gold? What shape of diamond?" He is so gutsy! Little did I know that the perfect ring was already in his pocket.
Austin could not have picked a more beautiful day to ask me to marry him. We walked the pier and climbed over ice mounds, taking in the breathtaking views.
I was so surprised and incredibly happen when Austin got down on one knee. I think I put the ring on my own hand- I was too excited!
We got married on June 30, 2018 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Notre Dame's campus.
Our wedding was more than we could have hoped for. Our hearts are so full!
Fantastic Finds made find the perfect dress (made by Essense of Australia) incredibly fun and easy. The entire process, including alterations, went to smoothly (thanks Tia, Kim, and Hilda!). We also want to give a special thanks to OMG Photography and Mohr Entertainment for capturing our day beautifully, and of course our parents and bridal parties for all of their support.
