Winery Wedding

Our story begins in the Fall of 2015. The first time we saw each other was in a group Bible Study through a campus ministry we both belonged to. We were both leading Bible Studies in our Greek organizations. As we kept seeing each other more and more at ministry events, a friendship began to form. It was clear that he wanted something more than friends but I was not interested in leaving the friend-zone. A persistent 7ish months later, I decided to give a relationship with him a chance, and I am so glad I did! October 21, 2016 he got down on knee while we were on a walk that morning and I said "yes" to a lifetime with him! 51 weeks later on October 13, 2018 we were married at Aurora Cellars in Lake Leelanau, Michigan.

As our wedding date quickly approached the weather became the number one concern. October in Michigan could go one of two ways. But the morning of the wedding the sun was out, the wind had died down and there were clear skies all day! Both Tommy and I really enjoyed our ceremony. Our good family friend and mentor married us. We wanted the ceremony to honor God and to show His love to all that were there with us. I asked Tommy what his favorite part of the day was and he said "seeing you walk down the aisle." He's so sweet! If I had to choose just one highlight, then it would have to be our unity ceremony. We had a rope cross that we braided to signify the joining of myself, Tommy, and God into the everlasting covenant of marriage. Ecclesiastes 4:12 states " Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

My advice to future brides would to do your best to let go of that control on how your day will pan out. Something will not go the way you had envisioned or planned and that’s ok! Regardless of the weather or how the place settings look you need to remember the reason for that day; you are marrying your best friend and becoming one with them in the presence of your friends family, and God. Enjoy the moment, take it all in. Take snapshots of it all in your mind and hold on to what it felt like to walk down the aisle towards your future.

Our day was more than we could have ever imagined it being. We have so many people that had a hand on making it what it was. To start our parents and family who helped immeasurably with every aspect of the day and the days leading up. Our mentor and officiant Dave Wood who crafted a ceremony that we will hold in our hearts forever. A huge thanks to our photographer Meg Simpson, videographer Timeless Media Productions, caterer and design coordinator Bayside Gatherings, and Elegant Bridal Hair & Makeup Design. Fantastic Finds dressed the entire wedding party and made us all look and feel amazing! The friends and family that drove near and far to be there for us during our special day made it so memorable. Lastly a huge thank you to our Lord and Savior who aligned our paths and blessed our relationship together.
